Before I went to Sefia Tutors, I went to a commercial SAT tutoring program. The difference between the two is HUGE. In the commercial program the teaching was all generalized (every student did the same thing) and everything was very robotic. My name is Ailekhu Longe. I am currently a junior at Saint Peter’s University. Mr. Paul started tutoring me back during my junior year of high school to help me prepare for the math portion of my SATs. During my time with Mr. Paul, he helped me develop a better understanding of mathematics, and helped me practice so when it came time for me to take the SATs I answered all the questions quickly and efficiently; because of this, I was able to get a more than good enough score both times I took the SATs, and was easily able to get into the colleges I applied to at the time. More importantly, Mr. Paul pushed me to apply myself more and to always strive to be and do better, not just in math, but anything that I do. My tutoring experience with Paul Sefia was very good. He is a very attentive teacher who always makes sure we walk out of his day lesson with understanding. I was able to reach the score of 710 in math within only one month.
Paul was my math instructor during my time with the Our Children’s Foundation, Inc., a non-profit community organization. He helped in providing tutoring and guidance all throughout my high school years. His focus was to give his students a “leg up” on these math classes by teaching us the core problems and equations we were bound to see in our high school classes, but also for the SAT later down the road.
Each first session, Paul would present us with a series of problems and equations that we would be exposed to in our high school math classes. He would then spend each subsequent session going through the tips and tricks on how to solve these various problems and equations. This would culminate in a final session in which we would test ourselves against those original problems and see how far we have come.
I appreciated this approach to learning, and I appreciate the time and effort that Paul puts in not only tutoring but also to working with us on the areas that we struggle with the most.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Paul as someone who will challenge you, enlighten you, and be the ally that you need to get through whatever task lies in your path. With the skills and experiences, I gained from working with Paul, I ended up graduating with a bachelor’s in criminal justice and Politics with a minor in Pre-Law, along with graduating from the City University of New York School of Law (CUNY School of Law) with my J.D. to now practicing as an attorney.
